If you are wanting a combo device, just go with the xfinity gateway. The problem with combo devices, at least at the time, was they might overheat, or have limited cpu/ram overhead (ever try to run a shitload of programs on your computer?), harder for technically declined to troubleshoot, and had poor wifi coverage. I haven't researched routers, modems and combos since I bought my setup 2 or so years ago, but there didn't seem to be a modem router that fit the bill when I looked. I personally have never experienced getting a fake product from Amazon, so I don't know what to say there.
